I bought the cheapest bookcase Ikea had - makes no sense to invest into buying stuff for an apartment I'm leaving in 5 months - but it's all full already. I have no idea what I'm going to do with all these books when I leave. Or my guitar, for that matter.

Did you knock it in before or after?

If it isn't soiled you can sit it on a window ledge or something. Stand it upright with paper towels underneath. Open the cover but don't try to separate the pages. Sandwich more paper towels inside the cover and between all the pages. Leave it like that for a day or so, then replace the paper towels, flip the book upside down and repeat.

Or, y'know, just go buy a new one.

    Midnight Express by Billy Hayes.

I saw the movie this evening on TCM. I stayed up pretty much all night to see what would happen next. Now I have to read the book.

If anyone likes Dean Koontz or Stephen King - esque novels..
I highly recommend any books by Richard Laymon.

Giga, that book's been sitting on my shelf for years now. Never seem to get around to it.

I am reading An Orgy of George. It's contains all three of George Carlin's books, plus some 30 odd pages of other material.

I went to the bookstore yesterday to order The Stolen Child and while I was there I bought The Last American Man by Elizabeth Gilbert - the author of Eat Pray Love if anyone's read that.

It was a quick read, and it made me laugh because I had considered getting it for my mom for Christmas - I am glad I didn't now, because she would've seen it (at least the beginning) as me trying to back up my I-don't-wanna-settle-down-quite-yet lifestyle. (The author went out west at 22 and pretended to be a cowgirl on a ranch for the summer. Kind of like I did last summer.) Anyway, it wasn't quite what I expected but I enjoyed it. Sort of a non-fiction, less idealized, half memoir/half biography unfinished grown-up My Side of the Mountain.

Went back today and got The Stolen Child, so I'll tell you what I think soon, Giga.
