Do you ever get used to having a huge hunk of metal around your finger?

That's the one thing about marriage I won't be looking forward to.

    Physically or mentally?

Yes, you don't notice the ring after a while. Tho if you do things like work with machines, it gets annoying b/c you need to take it on & off.

I never fully got used to the ring... instead the ring just became less annoying as I would play with it and use it as a source of positive thoughts (for it represented the love I felt and the love that was promised at the time). When I took the ring off (for showers and such... just something I would do)... it felt like I had a much heavier ring on and that was very, very annoying.

Guys actually struggle to know what an appropriate gift is. Some choose jewelry.

There is no guy manual that says "if you love her, give her a necklace ... if not, give her a DVD"

So don't read too much into it either way.

I completely agree with you guys! I told her that was a load of bull and she looked at me as if I was crazy! So, i just wanted to hear what others had to say about this. I much rather have something sentimental like a handmade gift.

Thanks, for the replies! so, i'm not crazy.

Sounds like he's afraid of the 3rd ring of marriage.

    1: Engagement ring
    2: Wedding ring
    3: Suffering
"Well, then," the Cat went on, "you see a dog growls when it's angry, and wags its tail when it's pleased. Now I growl when I'm pleased, and wag my tail when I'm angry. Therefore I'm mad."

I dont think it shows how serious they are my boyfriend got me a diamond necklace like a month after dating for xmas and he got me a diamond bracklet about 7 months ago and we have been together for over 2 years now. I love them but i didnt make him get me them i didnt even ask he just did it. Some people like jewelry more then others. Doesn't mean the love you more or less.
