Meh we'll see about that. What's next? Caged children?
I can't believe some of the people having children now used to be druggies/dropouts themselves. Oh well, maybe that's a fair explanation for things, lol.

I dont know how a leash determines a child's future at all.
Please do explain.

I don't think it would determine the future, but at such a tender age, leashing a child might affect a child psychologically. Don't you think so?
I mean, I remember being 5 years old and not being allowed to walk a certain length down the sidewalk without permission/supervision. I obeyed most of the time, but I felt like I was being babied. I wanted responsibility and my mother didn't give it to me. Now, if I was being leashed, I would feel like a damn dog.

I suppose if you never let them off the leash, that would be a problem. However, most people only use the leash in particular settings. I only used mine if I were going somewhere I could easily lose my boy (large crowds or stores, for example). One wouldn't use a leash if they were going to the park.
As for caging children, well what do you think a playpen is? Or a crib, for that matter?
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?
It's not like I am trying to hold her hostage. I am traveling with her. What a scary experience that will be, but it must be done at some point. I just want to travel without the worries of losing her from by my side. I live on an island, and she's already a handful here. I can only imagine the states and the airport.

He was 2. If he even remembers, I think he survived. Kids this age are too young to be reasoned with, and they need to be protected. When they understand rationale, the leash can be discarded.
Besides, I've done plenty of more embarrassing things to him over the years, believe me. Parents of teenagers live for opportunities to embarrass their kids.![]()

I dont plan to use it long enough for her to even remember. Only way she'll know is cuz I show her pictures. When she is at the age of speaking fluently and fully understanding when things are wrong, I 100% doubt that leash would even still be with me.

Would one of you like to submit a photo for me, of you with your leashed children?I would like to use this idea for a painting.
I don't post pictures on the 'net.

Dopple, I used a harness for my young son and he pees standing up.
I think you may be right that parents who use them may be somewhat over protective of their kids, but I would challenge your comment it makes me a bad parent. You would have loved growing up in my home, I guarantee it.
As for dangerous places, we were living in Boston and occassionally used public transportation. There were places were the system is quite old (oldest in the US, I think) and a stroller isn't a good choice. The harness seemed a good compromise and kept him from falling in the duck pond in Boston Common. I saw a number of kids on them, not just mine, so perhaps its more common in affluent, educated, and paranoid areas.![]()

When I was a wee lad, if you entered the street you were the weakest link! If you're too dumb to walk in the street, survival of the fittest! Natural selection has a role in nature. One time I actually did go in the street when I was about 3 years old. I was in a fischer price car, and i was riding down the slope in the driveway.... I couldn't stop the car though, so i ended up in the street... almost got hit by a car. My mom ran out and grabbed the car cussing and screaming lol. "Don't you ever go in the ****ing street again! You'll get hit by a car!" After that I obeyed my mom lol. She never needed to put a leash on me because she told me that a stranger would kidnap me if I strayed away. Hell, it's the truth. It's like telling a child not to take candy from strangers. If you explain to them why, then you really won't need a leash, lol. One time when I was 5 years old, she took me to an indoor playground for my birthday, with a bunch of my kindergarten classmates or something. I was so well behaved back then that I thought they left me at the playground, so I went up to the front and asked them where my mommy was. They put me on the PA system lol.
I actually do have memories from when I was 2-3 years old. Even from when I was only 12 months old (Like when my brother was born) I'm sure if I had a tether around my neck, I would have remembered that too. I remember shitting all over the play pen, lol.

Play pen, don't you mean a cage?
Since when did any 2 year old express their disapproval of how they are raised based on an "ethics" stand point?
"Mother, as a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Toddler People (NAATP), I do not think it is proper for you to place me on a leash like you do Spot. So I have come up with a compromise, I will no longer run off and get into trouble if you remove this degrading leash. I trust you will find this deal to be beneficial for us both."
And those little baby back packs? I swear I've seen a painting of an american native woman with her child snug against her back. But I guess you would know how barbaric those people are.
