Flirting but mixed messages

There is a man at work that I have been getting a lot of visual attention from for several months, like he cannot take his eyes off me. At first it seemed physical interest, but for a while now he just stares into my eyes, sometimes very deeply and I have on occasion caught him gazing at me mooney eyed. He touches my shoulder every so often, acts playful and we get on pretty well. I have not been able to resist looking back into his eyes, so at the moment there is a fair amount of tension. Then the other day he told me he was in a long time relationship with a woman that he is not married to -he said that if it wasn't for his job, which means he is away month on month off, then he would probably not be with her, he said his absence helped the relationship. I found it a bit confusing, do you think he was trying to say he was happy in his relationship or the opposite. He initiated this I never asked about his relationship status. Then another time he got angry with me for not bringing him a document on time (there was no time set - it just seemed to be at a stressful time for him). Nothing has happened outside of the flirting. Any interpretation would be helpful.

That doesn't sound like a mixed message at all. He's in an unhappy relationship and is interested in you.
