My bf calls me babe, baby, sweetie...I LOVE it..he is very affectionate and it feels very sincere. I used to think that kind of talk was sorta cheesy, from the outside looking in.. It is quite different now. : )

Literally the only pet name that my boyfriend and I use is "baby". We HATE the word babe, I'm not sure why, I guess it just sounds a little cheesy to me. I couldn't think of using any other pet names..haha

here where I'm from, only jerks call girls babe or baby, as in to flirt in a cheap manner, but in relationships its a common thing and yes I agree with Giga it's a privilege, and should not be used loosely, girls feel offended when strangers call them 'babe/baby'.
It's meant as a term of affection and should only be used to couples.... not some sleazy drunk on the sidewalk, or a casual friend!

The Mrs told me she loves to be called babe or baby. I innitialy had a hard time overcomming the conditioning by parents and peers in regards to this but that only took a few weeks to get over it (as stated in the original post).
