Spanish 101

Thanks, Miso, thats what I've been doing.

It sort of helps I dated a latin guy for five years, too. A lot of the basics are coming very naturally because I'm used to hearing them. I still can't roll my r's though, and I don't think I'll ever be able to.

Next question: When someone says "No le gusta estudiar" what exactly is 'le'? Assume I'm talking about some guy I know. What's up with the 'le'?

sorry i found this so late. i think i was gone when you posted that bsummer.

le is he or she used a bit differently in this sentence.

to say you like something is spanish is different from english. in english you say it like you're doing something to it. i like this. but in spanish gustar is to have gust. so it's doing something to you. me gusta = it's gusting me. lol. it sounds crazy but that's just how it is.

so when somebody says 'le gusta' they're saying it gusts him or her, as a literal translation. as a normal/ better translation, it's he/she likes it.

you probably have already figured this out but maybe it'll help sonrisa.

she's basically saying that yesterday a guy told her he loved her and it would last forever blah blah blah. but then it wasn't true and he messed it all up. then she talks about tomorrow she's gonna start over and forget him.

if you look over the lyrics it's good for using past and future tense.

Ayer tu me juraste que este amor seria eterno = yesterday you promised that this love was sincere. (past tense).

No escuchare palabras de arrepentimiento = i will not hear words of repent.

suavemente= smoothly

when you see -mente at the end of a word, in english it means -ly.
