There's no reason to think platonic or maternal love is any different from romantic love. So, if you can love more than one child, why should partners be any different?

Biologically, true monogamy is rare... so certainly we are wired for multiple partners.

I dont think thats true. Platonic love for say, children is maternal, never ending feeling that gives you desire to protect them from harm/look after them and want the best for them. Amongst other things.

Romantic love involves a desire to be close, to be intimate, to spend your lives together etc etc..and i dont have them feelings for my son so therefore they are both the same and different in so many ways.

i dont believe it is possible to truly truly love more than one person at once.

Aside from the lack of sexual attraction for your children (or so I hope), maternal love is greater for your child than it is for a lover. Therefore, if it is possible to love more than one child, I still think it is possible to love more than one person romantically.
