So I'm 41 and I've been seeing this guy who's about 55 or so on the train for the past few YEARS. We never really spoke until a couple of years ago when I was walking to get on the train and he must have thought I was smiling at him and he smiled and said hello. I was actually laughing at something the woman behind me said about metro.
Then he started speaking to me each day just saying Hi and smiling. A month ago he worked up the nerve to sit beside and we have a conversation. Let me explain that there is something unspoken but unmistakable going on between us and we both know it. The first time he sat beside me was the day after I had to sit facing him as he sat beside and talked to this other train rider who was clearly throwing herself at him. I didn’t look at him when I got off the train. I was just a little embarrassed and feeling like he was stupid because he was too chicken to talk to me.
The next day, he made a deliberate effort to make sure he sat beside me and he asked if how old was my son he saw me with previously, when I said 7, he said "and he takes up all of your free time." I didn’t reply. It was like he was trying to explain to me why he wouldn’t "put the moves on" me. That's how I know that we BOTH know what's going on.
Anyway, we see each other twice a month or so these day, but I have not seen him sept or oct. yesterday was the first time I saw him in 2 months and he actually put his arm around my waist and said, "it’s always a pleasure to see you." we chit chatted as I walked downstairs for me next train, he was going to keep straight to exit the station, but he actually kissed me on the cheek goodbye. I lean toward him for the kiss. It just felt like we were already in love.
This is good because the last time I saw him I had decided to dismiss him as a stupid fool for good because after we got off the train and he was turning off to exit the station he said "I'll talk to you later sweetie." I almost touched my hand. I figured he was hiding all this time because he did that. It just rolled off his tongue. Clearly, he didn't plan to say it.
I think he's been seeking advice and a wise person told him he's stupid and he'd better make is BIG move immediately. Now, how can I ask for him number. I don’t want to wait on him. It could take years. He's older and doesn't understand a lot of the flirty things I do. I think he has to go to others and have them explain it to him. I guess they told him I stare at his mouth when he is talking because I want a kiss.
What shoudl i do to gt this started the next time I see him. i was thinking of saying, "George, can you take my number in case I get lost?" I saw my niece use that one her fisrt day of college. She was smooth.
