I'm no model, but I have a great man and a good job and a generally happy life. Neither of us are rich. We're in a field where we could be if we wanted to, but we're not interested because we want a family and a normal life. Those are the things we've realized that really matter.

There's nothing wrong with having a private forum. The regulars have one which has been provided by LA. It's good to post threads which can't be seen by the world-at-large, and which is restricted to people whose advice you value and who are more familiar with your personal history.

But the whole private - but actually very public - aspect of "Private Party" was classic.

I wasn't complaining about being left out of the "Private Party"-- Hell, I didn't know it existed until I read Vashti's thread. Nor was I crying about being excluded from the little ourselves-alone arrangement that the self-appointed elite of "regulars" appears to have (I didn't even know about that until I read your thread above). I just have a general, gut-felt aversion to nasty little cliques that make a point of excluding all others as untouchable; and it seems that such cliques are in the process of dominating LoveForum.

It wasn't created for for the purpose of posting elite threads.

And really, no one cared about coco's private forum, other than it provided great entertainment since it wasn't actually private.

It isn't the existence of the little clubs, or the reasons for the little private parties, or whether or not I'm invited to join. None of that matters a damn. What infuriates me is the "we're so much better than you" attitude, however it manifests itself.

I believe, deep in my soul, that people who are too good to associate with "those people"--when "those people" is defined as everybody but their little gang-- are too good to breathe common air, and ought to be cut off from the supply.
