apply it to all the places where you wouldn't mind your girl sniffing.

...this is just my perspective on the situation...
To most effectively create an aura of smell around you that will last with you all day and be noticeable there are key areas called "hot spots" you should apply the fragrance to. First is the obvious squirt on the front of your neck. Some people do it behind the ears but whatever is sprayed there is gone within an hour or two. Scent rises to you want it to work for you instead of fade away. After the squirt on the front of the neck also apply to the middle of your chest, the inside of your arm directly on the other side of the elbow (don't know a better way to describe it), and finally spray the back of your kneecaps. It may also be a good idea to spray just below your waist but above the junkyard. The point is to get the cologne sprayed on points nearest to the flow of blood and also to get a good variation of places on the body. By the time the neck and chest fade away the scent from the bottom of your kneecaps will be in full swing.
On a final note, contrary to the 80s notion, do NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT spray the frangrance into the air and then walk into it. It's an extreme waste of fragrance and doesn't absorb at all. You need the frangrance to absorb into your skin and work with your body chemistry, not lay on the top for 20 minutes then go away.

thanks
also is it wise to apply on clothes also?
I always do a spritz on my shirt. I have some shirts that nearly PERMANENTLY smell like cologne. So it DOES stick to it well.
As for spraying in those "hot spots", i've noticed those also seem to be spots where you sweat a lot. I'm assuming the cologne acts somewhat as a 'deodorant' in those spots, covering up the spot.
If you want a REALLY good time, do it when your pores are nice and open like right after showering or shaving your neck. YEAH! MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE A MAN TO GET THAT ALCOHOL DEEP IN YOUR PORES! [grunt!!!]

As a general note it's a terrible idea to spray on your clothes. As sfalexi alluded to the fragrance NEVER comes out. So if you make a habit of spraying your cologne on your shirt it will begin to reek. Best to keep it on your skin.Originally Posted by Nameless

BTW... The forums at http://love-scent.com/ have a ton of info on this. Its full of aroma expertsAlso you might want to check out the phermones there I've gotten tons of hits using them. There is one cologne there that releases its scent evenly over a 12 or 24 hour period (I forget which) which works wonderfully.
I met one woman working as a cashier at Trader Joe's who smelled SOOOOO good. I just HAD to ask her what she was wearing. She let me smell her wrist (where she sprayed it) and told me that it was a custom design scent just for her. She had went to some company (and paid a shitload of money of course) who analyzed her own pheramones and scent and came up with a supplement to it to make HER smell good.
And BOY did it work.
Just something you might want to think of for the future or if you are rich now.
