how to get to know him?

Hi there, I am new in this forum. I met a guy who made my heart leap yesterday . he is a staff of a big store, i exchanged a few words with him as i need him to exchange certain items. later we met again while i was shopping in the store and he smiled to me. nothing happened. but gosh, i really would like to get to know him. he is a foreigner (japanese) working here.

i am quite pretty, so in terms of looks i should not put him off. i have never taken the first move in my life, i don't know how i should do it. should i just be frank with him and say i want to befriend him? or should i ask him about items in his store as an excuse just to talk to him?

i am not concerned whether he is already attached or not, i just want to know him, that's all. appreciate any advice you have.

Make small talk?
Like, thats an interesting *point at some random object* and ask him about...
then ask him personal stuff?


Or grab a random flyer in the store and claim you're illiterate and seek him out for help.
He'll either think it's cute, or pity you.. either way you'll get to know him =)
