    The "New X Files"?

In another thread here the old TV show 'X Files' came up and how great of a show it was. I used to watch it too. Anyway, does anyone think that 'Fringe' is the successor of 'X Files'? I don't get to watch every episode of 'Fringe', but it certainly is interesting and has a good flow to the underlying story.

I think I saw one episode accidentaly, and didn't even connected it to X-Files. There is nothing that can replace Mulder and Sculy. There is nothing that can replace X-Files.

I thought the first season of Fringe was amazing, but second season was really just meh for me. I have the same problem with Fringe that I have with LOST. That some of the characters conveniently have a selective memory when it comes to the strange phenomena they experience.

    *Caution spoilers ahead*

For instance, Fringe ends the first season with the lady agent entering another dimension. Then at the beginning of season 2, all of a sudden, it's back to solving these bizarre crimes and NO mention of the FREAKING OTHER DIMENSION that the FBI agent crossed over into until way into the season. Kind of like in LOST when everyone forgot about the monster and the polar bear. The lack of continuity on these shows drive me nuts.

X-Files did this, too, but to a less annoying extent. I was still a big fan.

i know what you mean SB. however i have decided to accept that the only perfect show in the whole world is Dexter and everything else is merely enjoyable. the less we analyze them the more pleasure we get. still Fringe characters beat x-files or LOST characters by superior acting.

one thing drove me nuts though, is the appearance of Agent Francis (Charlie) after he was killed in the last season. not sure if it was meant to be or just a major screw up.
