Why would you need advice from another about a SO who is your best friend as well? That combination would remove the desire to talk to anyone other than your SO about the love and respect you have for another or the natural hiccups along the way.

My best friend isn't male. In real life, all of my close attachments are female (except my son), which is strange as I think about it, since I grew up liking males better.

Sorry, I disagree with this. If I had married my female best friend and then we had some problems I certainly wouldn't pull up a chair, grab a beer and say "you know my wife's been a real bitch lately" like I would to a best friend who I wasn't married to. I just doesn't work like that.

My point is why not do your friend and if it works out and turns out to be your soul mate then great....you can always make new friends....I've found more friends than soul mates...and I'm not talking acquaintances. I'm one of those guys who keeps a circle of about 5 people....but there are lots of people to talk to.

Why even talk shit to begin with? If they're your best friend as well as lover, just talk to them.

Sure, there are going to be differences from time to time... but that's normal and healthy.
