    Green foods for Shrek party?

I've never seen Shrek, any of them. My bf and his girls feel this is a travesty and are beside themselves insisting we have a "Shrek Fest" next weekend. We want to do some green colored drinks/snacks/dinner.

The snacks and drinks are locked up but I just don't know about the entree . Green eggs and ham just doesn't do it for me.

    Any suggestions would be great..

Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
    A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
    Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
    Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

Pesto...I don't know if your familiar but the way I make it is with spinach, walnuts, garlic, and olive oil, salt and pepper....basically you puree them until its something like a paste. I like a lot of garlic but you can add it to taste. I put it over pasta until all of the pasta is covered evenly. The Spinach gives it a green color. It is good to eat with the pasta hot or cold. But if you won't want to put it over pasta it also makes a good sandwich spread. It doesn't taste like spinach if your concerned about that...I can't compare it to anything but it is really good.

Spinach artichoke dip is a good one. You could make some hummus with lots of parsley in it (or green food coloring).

You can also make something with rice and just add green food coloring to the rice...the food coloring won't effect the rices flavor...I think that is all I have now.

Unless you want to try something different. I know it doesn't sound like it would be good but it is. I've never tried it this way, I usually use red apples....but you could use green ones.

Roast a chicken like you normally would but stuff it full of garlic, onions, and apples. I know apples and onions don't sound like they taste good together but they do. Then garnish the pan with apples and onions and its actually really good. I even like it with pork so you could roast some with some pork chops, just put some olive oil over them.

Good idea on the pesto, I've seen little mix packets in the pasta section at the store. I can see the girls liking that. My bf must be having a tardo sun stroke day for just now suggesting stuffed jalapenos. Right, babe. The girls, who think pepperoni is spicy, would just LOVE that.

Well Pepperoni reminded me of pizza.

Make your own dough, add green food coloring once again it won't change the flavor. And then for toppings you could get creative. I like spinach and basil on mine with maybe some tomatoes and mozzarella cheese.

The thing is, I don't like cooking...but eating is always good.

If jalapenos are to spicy for them have you ever had stuffed green bell peppers?

I like to add hot sauce to mine but its a personal preference...it'd allow your bf to have something spicy when he added hot sauce while they girls could have something far more milder and at the same time tasty.

    Thank you

I'm really liking the pesto idea a lot. They love mac and cheese. I'd just get the Knorr mix which seems pretty tame.
