What about a bunch of soap? Water and oil don't mix, they just need a chemical that will dissolve the oil.

Yeah, they're using an outrageous amount of questionable dispersant.

I don't see the point, all they're doing it spreading that shit out, and it's not like it's keeping it from collecting on wildlife.

Exactly. It doesn't get rid of the oil. They have to either collect the oil or stop the flow. Or they could burn it, but what a waste. Energy to burn more energy.
