Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
I had a camel kick me out of a trailer a few years ago and broke some ribs...best thing I could find that helped was to lay as still as possible and smoke some weed. The pain killers they gave me sucked...I guess since I didn't cry like a bitch they assumed I didn't hurt that bad.

Ha, not really an option with having to work and look after a 3yr old! Oh well!

They used to splint broken ribs, but I don't think they do it any more because it prevents you from taking a deep breath, which puts you at risk for pneumonia. So, I think just regular NSAIDs are the normal course of treatment, unless the doctor prescribed anything stronger. I would also advise you to stay away from anyone who may be sick. It would probably hurt badly if you have to cough.
How did you break your rib? Is it cracked, or broken in two?
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?
Yeh i just have painkillers- but i cant take them during the day as they make me drowsy and unsafe to drive.
I had an argument with a horse- and lost.

Broken ribs and bruised/broken tailbone are pretty much something you just have to suffer through. It hurts to eat, sand, breath, sleep, cough, sneeze, etc, etc. It sucks, but painkillers are about the only thing you can take.
