How in Hell do you determine how to rate a person or thing on the 1 - 10 "hotness" scale?

I prefer the area code scale. Three numbers, one for face, one for body, one for personality. Unless you're from Jersey, in which case I just use your actual area code (201) =)

According to an old drinking buddy, the criteria goes something like:
Initial rating determined by face
Add 1 for every cup size over B
Add 1 for every beer over 4
Add 0.5 for every hour past midnight
Subtract 3 for presence of a cigarette

That's pretty much it for most guys: face, booze, breasts.

Haha well, my girls and I rate guys 1-10 depending on not only looks but personality. Usually, of course, 10 is the hottest: guy looks like a celebrity, flawless, and not an ass. 1, in my opinion, is the notorious playboy.
It all depends on how many girls you've met. It really depends on your standards what the scale 1-10 is.

9-10 = perfection that is intimidating, probably too much to be bothered with
7-8 = very attractive, but not alienating
4-6 = average guys
1-3 = perfect guy (for an enemy)

This thread is completely ridiculous, and I'm disgusted by the idea of using a 1-10 number to judge someone's physical appearance.


Real men use the letter system, A-Z, which is a numerical scale of 26. It adds flexibility.

I posted this thread and waited 10 days for someone to give me an answer. One sole single solitary by-himself guy responded (thanks rain.man, I owe you one). Then just as I was about to go all Medieval on everyone for ignoring me, the social and intellectual elite of LoveForum showed up all at once to give me the attention I crave. Even loveadmin put in an answer! I've arrived!

The only problem is, all of the respondents answered the question I asked, and not the question I wanted answered. Evidently, there's not a mind-reader in the place.

I actually had a fairly complex question in mind, but I couldn't find the words to state the question in less than a half-dozen paragraphs. I didn't think that anyone would bother answering a wall-of-text question, so I cut and revised and simplified and, finally, oversimplified. My fault.

Oh, well. I'll try again if I ever figure out what I want to say. In the meantime, thanks to everyone for honest effort.
