Fine. But you have to spend serious time with somebody to know how you really feel about them. How on earth can they do this? They can't. So it will NOT work. It's not rocket science. Why on earth can't they find somebody closer to home? When I was looking for a GF on the internet I limited my search to within a reasonable distance of where I lived and guess what? My girlfriend is not on the other side of the freaking planet.
When two people reach out to each other across such a tremendous distance, I feel like at least one of them is doing this to avoid a real relationship.
Good decisions come from experience. Experience comes from bad decisions.
It depends on several things. I don't believe in LDR when the people have never met yet. How can you love someone all the way when you've never met? Doesn't work for me, and honestly I think anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves.
I have been in a LDR of two years.. we met via a friend of mine, she knew him, he lived in the UK, we in the Netherlands. I went with her to meet him one time.. we stayed at his place. Previously we had been chatting, and we liked each other a lot, but I didn't think much of it because of above reasons. We met, we fell in love. I broke up with him recently, because I couldn't stand it anymore. Seeign eachother a couple times a year, in total a few weeks a year. Online and phone things are not the same. I became more and more aware of not being able to move there for him, I love living in my country, and couldn't miss my family.. and he, well I am fluent in english, he speaks two words or so dutch, plus he's recently bought a house etc. Couldn't see him moving to me.
So, LDR can work.. if there's future plans to be together, if one's willing to move. And if you know each other beforehand. Don't believe in them otherwise.
Nope, not for me. If I had to maybe temporarily but no, they won't fly for me. I need affection, and that can't be given via web cam; it's as simple as that.
I was in one LDR, and it sucked. It absolutely sucked. I'll never ever get myself involved with a girl like that again.
LDR's prove one fundamental flaw in the relationship.
Distance.
Well let me say something here on LDR's. A long time ago I was having a LDR with a woman from the other side of Australia, I was living in Perth and she was in Melbourne, we rang each other all the time say 3 times a week, had great chats etc etc. We only spend time togteher about 5 to 8 times, meaning physically being with each other. Than after that I had to fly back to Perth, while she stayed in her own town of Melb.
Anyhow to cut a long story short, honestly speaking it lasted lets say between 2 to 3 months or so, might of been a touch more. I finally got a long letter from her one day explaning to me the facts that its not working out and we just remain friends, and that was it.
Well it all faded away in the mist and even today I have not heard from her at all, like it came and went.
