I find it very hard to meet new people since breaking with my ex. All of my old friends have since married and we dont talk much so its awkward. Where can i meet new friends to get over him thats not a bar?? Being socially isolated is the worst part of this, Im in kinda a rural area on top of it, but not too far from a city.

Yuck, I am in the same boat. I ended up hanging out at a local casino. I can just sit at the bar, drink my sorrows away and play some video poker without anyone bothering me. It's an interesting way to be left alone with actually being alone. At this point all the bartenders know me so I get some interaction from them.
After a few drinks, I start chatting with others that are amazingly in the same situation, just going to the casino because the alternative was just sitting at home and do nothing.
Only downside, is that my Ex still frequents that casino so I usually run into her
YMMV.

There's plenty of places to meet people. Take a class at a community college, the bookstore, a local coffee shop, or try exploring new places in that nearby city.
