Heartbroken

Last August my friend told me about this girl who was best friends with his girlfriend. He said we where very alike and he wanted to give her my number. I said ok and she started texting me.

She could not get a job locally and had to move away to find work. This happened about 2 weeks before we started texting each other.
We started texting each other daily and soon began calling each other almost every day. We got to know each other just by talking on the phone and we both agreed the next time she came home we would meet each other. When she came home for a few days she was busy visiting her friends and family and could not get time to meet me. She was going out one of the nights she was home in my town with her friends and ask me to meet there. As I did not know any of her friends I didnt want to go. We kept up our daily phone call to each other and began to like each other very much. We agreed again to meet each other the next time she came home, but again she was to busy with her friends and family to get time to meet me. This happened about 3 or 4 times over about 4 months. She told me she liked me and would send me a goodnight text every night ending it with a kiss and I started replying with the same.

Despite 4 months of calling and texting each other daily we still never met each other. I didnt mind to much as she said she was looking for work locally and would be moving back home when she got a job. I would have plenty of time to meet her then. When she got a week off for Christmas the same thing happened again she said she was to busy with her friends and family to meet me. I was disappointed but because it was Christmas I understood.

About a month later at the beginning of February she sent me a text message that almost broke my heart. She told me when she was home at Christmas she met up with an other guy she knew. I called her and asked her what was going on. She told me this guy was a friend of one of her house mates. She said they where not going out with each other but she wanted to let me know just in case anything did happen between them. I told her how much I liked her and that I really wanted to meet her. Less than two weeks later it was Valentine's Day. I told her I wanted to send her a gift but she said she didnt want me spending money on her and wouldnt give me her address so I couldnt post her anything, but she told me afterwards the other guy bought her gifts. We still called each other daily despite this and agreed again to meet each other the next time she came home. About a month later she came home but a close friend of hers died tragically and the funeral was on the same day she came home so we couldnt meet. She told me she was sorry and was coming home for a week at the end of the March and would meet me then. In the mean time the other guy bought her a train ticket so she could travel to his town to meet him which she did.

She came home for a week last week and finally after 8 months of trying we finally met each other. I was so happy.
Her week at home was soon up and she went away again. I called her on Monday the day she went back to try and tell her now much I liked her but she was tired after her flight and wanted to go to sleep. I called her again lon tuesday to try and tell her again but for some reason she didnt want to talk and said goodnight to me. I then texted her to tell her I wanted to talk to her about us. She called me back and asked me to say what I wanted to talk about. I told her how much I like her and talked about us meeting.
She then told me the last thing I wanted to hear. She told me she liked the other guy more than me and want just to be friends with me. I was heartbroken.
I asked her way she liked him more, she said its because she met up with him before she met up with me. I told her that I was wanting to meet her for months but she said she never had time to meet me.

I dont know what to do. I like her so much, im heartbroken. She does like me but not the way she did before she met the other guy. I told her that every chance I got I would meet her and we can get to know each other better and not to start a relationship with the other guy just because she met him a few times and only met me once. But she says she likes him and thats it.
Im lost, I like her so much but I dont know what to do.

Can anyone help me and tell me what I can do?

Well, I would say you should of shown more initiative but she was completly blowing you off every single chance she could. Honestly, you should of dropped her a loooooong time ago. It looks pretty desperate on your part to put up with her being "too busy" for what 4 months to meet up? Forget her, do you really want a friend like that?

It know it sounds bad, but she did like me. She is a really nice girl and I really like her.

ehhh, maybe she liked you, but she's not that nice. She kinda led you on for a bit there. Your best bet is to move on now though, she's with another.
