Ahhhh, it sounds as if there are more problems than just the potential cheating.
It now sounds as if she's just a completely selfish woman, not caring about others as long as she can do exactly what she wants.
Yes

Your poor children. You weren't working at all? Wow, even when I was home w/my young son I did contract work from home (you seem to own a laptop and an internet connection....)
You two are barely holding your head above water, aren't you? In today's economy, one spouse not working is a luxury only couples with large incomes can afford.
Second thoughts can generally be amended with judicious action; injudicious actions can seldom be recovered with second thoughts.

Whatever.
One spouse not working is something practically any couple can afford, as long as you don't own a vehicle and are stuck at home most days, fight over who stays home the most, become bitter when one goes out with the opposite sex(!), never have any time for one another, and don't mind being broke. Seriously, it's doable, and if it doesn't work for you, then you just leave after a whole two hours of not being able to sleep.
I mean, have you ever not been able to sleep for a whole two hours? It's torture.
What? you're gonna leave your wife and children (temporarily)? OP, gotta say you're beginning to sound really immature. While I agree that her hanging out with her male friend (sometimes behind your back) is inappropriate, I think it's foolish to make a big decision of leaving the family based solely on HOW YOU FEEL. Surely you can do with more facts (is she really cheating or not, etc) and some honest conversation with your wife.
I feel sorry for the kids. They don't deserve this from their parents.
If I stay home it will probably escalate in to a fight tomorrow
Here's how it will go down,
She will leave knowing I have no way to, no one to watch the kids and stay gone for up to two weeks spending all of our money until I'm broken and scared enough to accept this male friend no questions asked and beg her to come home so I can go to a grocery store without having to take two small children on the bus plus carry groceries.
So instead I'm leaving before she can, and hopefully after taking care of the kids for the first time by herself for more than a day she will treat me with the smallest bit of consideration, if she wont then I wont make the mistake of marrying a immoral atheist when I re-marry.
In the mean time while I'm gone I'll be finding a job and child care, because even if I was making a million dollars a year and supporting her she wouldn'/couldn't stay home with the kids.
She goes away for 2 full weeks at times? You didn't mention that at first.
And if she's immoral, it's not because she's an atheist. -_-
I'm almost starting to think this guy is just trolling. The things just seem to get worse and worse, and makes me wonder why he didn't initially say these things.
WTF?! if she needs company why can't She find a ladyfriend? As far as I know population of women is higher than men's?!
