What to talk about online with a girl

So I met this girl on a dating site last week. We have talked a few times, nothing major I asked what she was looking for and she said the right guy for her and I said I was looking for the right girl

She lives about an hour and a half away and I would like to chat with her more to get to know her better before we meet.

What;s the best way to have a nice conversation with a girl? Just ask her questions about her life? I don't want to get all personal and don't want ti to be just us talking back and forth and then losing interest.

Is maybe sendng a message saying "Hey i'd like to get to know ya a bit more" a good thing to say?

So you're asking about initiating the conversation or the actual conversation?

I would not recommend having a conversation via inbox to inbox like with email, dating site email, or facebook messages, because each person reads it at their own convenience instead of responding immediately and it is inevitable for the conversation to die that way.

It would be best to speak over I.M. or phone. If you have exchanged either of those then start the conversation casual, what you all did that day and what's going on in general and move into more open-ended questions (questions that cannot be answered by a simple yes or no).

personally i find that i like it when a guy asks me how my day was, what was good or bad about it. asking about intrests and hobbies can always spark more converstion to follow especially if you hav some things i common. ask her anything about herself. but at a good pace. you dont want to ask too deeply persona stuff save that for when you know her a little more. but asking qustions and taking an intrest in her intrests is the best way to let a girl know you like her.
