There are certainly a lot of people getting grad degrees that shouldn't (not saying you Dopple). Actually, as a teacher, you are much better off getting a MA and not a PhD, which will overqualify youfor a number of jobs. You don't need a PhD to teach at a college, plenty of MA/MSc faculty.
Maybe we should just put degrees inside fortune cookies...

I think the education bubble is going to burst soon, just as the housing bubble did. Too many idiots with useless degrees have devalued education to the point that their degrees can't even get them a job anymore. Actually, trade schools are reporting higher than ever enrolment. University was never meant to serve the general masses, I agree with you.

I have a friend who did some sort of photography degree at uni and could'nt get a job in that field after graduation. Things like photo shop and other computer programmes, where you can "cut and shut" your own photos, really took the wind out of his sail IMO. I got myself a trade as a Plant Mechanic, and am employable in Hydro-electric power stations or coal/iron ore Mines and everything in between.
