I understand where DM is coming from. I personally know of a few people who were in an accident and are abusing the system. Using the accident as an opportunity to slack off work, go for more physio than they really need...
I was t-boned by a stupid woman a few years ago. 100% her fault, she destroyed our car. Now, I do know enough about injuries that I went to see my physio immediately the next day even tho my symptoms were mild at the time. Because I did this I needed exactly ONE session. I took a week to recover, went slowly back to my workout routine and I've been fine. This wasn't a small accident either: both our airbags went off and our car was totalled.
But the physio and ICBC adjuster were encouraging me to take more sessions, put in a claim for a longer car rental... all ridiculous and unnecessary. They both seemed amazed that someone would tell them 'no, I'm fine, save it for someone who really needs it'. I think there are a lot of whiny-ass people out there who take advantage of the system. In the end, however, someone pays and here in BC its us with the highest insurance rates in the country.
Second thoughts can generally be amended with judicious action; injudicious actions can seldom be recovered with second thoughts.
