Why does this girl asks help to me when others are around?

i was in a bank for some work and i saw this girl may be 25 average looking in the bank a customer like myself.she was sitting right to me with a empty chair between us and the guy left of me asked to get his bag which was on the chair front of her.so i asked her very politely and gently(since she was a girl) to please pass the bag.she did so and that was the end.after a couple of weeks i go to the same bank and i was sitting in the chair and suddenly somebody called me from the side and i see it was the girl whom i spoke that day.she started asking doubts regarding filling of forms etc.the point is there were many girls of her age and elderly woman men around her but she asked it to me who was not near to her.i think that the girl is a shy one and she thinks iam a polite guy to help her or does this mean girls like guys who respect them or my both ideas wrong and u girls have a third idea.
