donut boy go start your own thread. this one was supposed to be how music is everywhere, even out in the universe. not you and nomas arguing over semantics.
Yeah, like you ever said anything about the music of the spheres.Originally Posted by misombra
Of course, I could explain it, if you want.

Donut----"To many catholics and christians, being born is a sin. The "Original Sin" is passed on to you and you must repent for salvation. I would call this the "shame of existence." ////“I must address this first and foremost. IF Original Sin is inherent, AND it's passed on to you WHEN you are born, then you are BORN in SIN? See? It's really not that difficult to follow. If you are BORN IN SIN, then being BORN is a SIN!!!! God”.
*(Views thread with caution; hurries off to prepare mini-sermon)*
I can see your line of argument. The first statement is true, original sin is inherent and is passed onto you when you are born. People often say, “He/She is like that because of his/her parents”. We carry the sins of our forefathers etc. However, the conclusion you draw is incorrect and unacceptable. We are not born in sin, we are born ‘with’ sin. If our parents are not married, we are conceived ‘in’ sin, but not born in sin. Being born was never a sin!
Secondly, since your opening line was “To many catholics and christians, being born is a sin”, I will have to address it from their point of view. I am not here to champion the Catholic faith, I merely speak for moderate Christians who are grateful for the gift of life; they are not ashamed of their existence, they are only ashamed of the sins they commit. The only so-called Christians I can think of that may be ashamed of their existence are those who practice self-flagellation – nutters as far as I’m concerned.
Time Out. *(Scuttles off in search of more ammunition)*.
Winston Churchill once said, “Never give in, never give in, never, never, never – in nothing, great or small, large or petty – never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense!”
You, my good Sir, are not making sense. Therefore I ask that you recant, or else refrain from making further preposterous remarks!
*(Wipes brow. Goes off in search of a glass of cold water)*.
Wait a minute, Chlorine, you're losing your own argument.
Do you think that I believe being born is a sin? Do you think I feel shame for existence? If so, you're all wrong. The only reason I ever brought up original sin was to show nomas that sometimes ignorance is not happiness. I was merely explaining the Christian doctrine.
If there are "Christians" who do not accept this doctrine, then why do they label themselves Christians? What's with people and labels? Most of them just feel a burning desire to be "part of something," even if it's something they do not necessarily agree with.
All I was doing was explaining the religious logic. If it's absurd, well, that's because it's religious. Just because I can explain it doesn't mean I agree with it. So, go find some Christians to call preposterous, because calling me preposterous is preposterous in itself.
Ya dig?
Donut----Yes, I dig. I had noted what you and Nomas was talking about. However, the only reason I posted was because of that one statement which looked wrong to me. Granted that christians all over the world believe different things, I still think you've gotten the doctrine wrong. Nevertheless, I'll retire and put a cap on this. If I ever get to San Diego, we can take it up from there over coffee and donuts.
As you always say "Peace".
