Giving a gift to a current "friend"

I've never really had a real relationship, I've dated, but only the same person for a few weeks or so. So I don't have a lot of experience in the actual relationship aspect of things.

But anyways, I've been hanging out and seeing this girl for a few weeks consecutively. We've known each other for a while and are friends, but haven't really ever been together as much as we have now.

I'd like to ask her out and to be my gf, but she is in a "relationship", granted it pretty much over, she's told me it's over anyway, and she's honestly with me 3-4 days a weeks.

Would it be weird for me to get her a small gift? Nothing super romantic or anything, but there's something she mentioned she was wanting to get the other night at dinner, so i thought it'd be something nice to do for her?

Would this be completely weird? Or maybe just a good way to show I was listening and care?

Would you as a woman, like the idea of getting a gift from one of your male friends?

It would be weird, as a male or female, getting a random "gift" from anyone is odd. If you want to have a relationship with her, you wait for the current one to end and make a move. Gifts are for the following:

    - Birthdays
    - Christmas
    - Valentines (if you want to get laid, anyways)
    - Anniversaries
    - Apologizing for that time that you got caught checking out your girlfriends sisters chest while you were all at the beach and she was wearing that string bikini, and even though you apologized and said you weren't really thinking, you knew damn well what you were looking at, but that doesn't matter now because you got caught and you need to make amends. But getting the gift just makes it worse because it is then like you're saying "I can look at someone elses tits as long as I buy you a gift to make it better?", but it doesn't work because with jealous women you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. So I suggest just not looking at anyone in her families chest because she'll never let it go, gift or not.

Depends on the girl i guess.. But i think it would be a bit too much too soon, especially since she is just getting out of a relationship. There are other ways to show you listen and care at this point.

Has she told her current boyfriend it's over? I bet she hasn't. It doesn't take days to end a relationship, it takes minutes so why hasn't she ended it? Like the idea of her cheating on her BF with you? Personally I have very little respect for people who do this. Don't you?

I think random gifts are nice....but not is she's still officially with someone else.

If you do get into giving random gifts when she's officially your girlfriend, be sure to keep it up forever. Giving gifts initially and then stopping after you've been together a while is uncool.

Wait till she's single then give her an STD as a gift. Then whenever she scratches her genitals she'll always think of you.

I know what you are trying to do, but a random gift isn't going to win her over......you can't buy someone's affection with gifts....it's lame ass. If you want to win her over, stop being too available to her...make her miss you....they say the less desiable you make yourself the more desirable you will become. But for right now she is just using you as her emotional tampon, and if she really wanted to be with you she would have sent that BF sailing. IMO you are treading in dangerous waters when they say their relationship is pretty much over...it's a load. She is there because you give her attention and that's it. If they do split up you might become a rebound, and then boom she's back with him again because he is giving her attention that she originally wanted in the first place. So stop being a sucker.
