OP, some people are simply useless. They will never get anywhere on their own. They need constant help. They feel entitled to what other people have but aren't willing to work for it, as other people do. They can't just dust themselves off and get on with things; they need a lifelong self-pity party and everything is always just too hard.

In my experience, these people don't change and they bring very little into your life because their motto is 'take', not 'give'. They offer nothing and should you ever find yourself in need of help, you'll soon realize that you're never going to get it from them. That's the nature of a one way street.
