I think the word love has multiple definitions depending on the context and the user. I use the term "true love" to refer to a love that is deep and lasting. If you lose someone when it was "true love", you feel a profound sense of loss, and it takes a while to get over. As opposed to something like infatuation, which is more like the love of a child for a shiny new toy.
