I'm going to this speeddating event tonight where I'll get to meet a few people and chat with them for 8 minutes. It's round-robin dating, you know, where you meet, talk, then move on to another person. I'm nervous as hell and only doing it because my friend is doing it and I love making new friends.
Any way, it's also stressing me out a LOT. (Okay, that's all my griping.)

What do you all think of speed-dating?

I think it would be fun. Like you say, you meet all kinds of new people and hopefully everyone who's signed up goes in with a positive attitude toward the event, so it will probably be good times. Individual attention for 8 minutes so that they don't just get the visual on you, you get a little bit better sense as to the person you are...not completely, but a great step further than not talking to you at all.
