GUYS PLEASE HELP, the "Im not over my ex excuse"

    So frustrated.

I met this guy at a club, I barely remembered him when he texted me when I got home.
With a bit of help, I found out he was a year younger than me (26), very good looking but he lived with his parents.
He impressed me, was very charming, sweet and he made plans for us to go to a fancy restaurant.
I didn't really put much thought into it, I usually have a few standard questions before I go out with a guy to kind of screen out the douchebags (how long have you been single, I usually don't even give them a chance if it's less than three months)

He picked me up, he was sweet normal, great conversation, he lacked a bit in the complimenting department (so I was kind of wondering if he had beer goggles on when he met me?)
He suggested we go to a club after because someone suggested it to us.. (even while he had work at 7am) so I figured he was having a good time?
We get there, get a few drinks, he's still being sweet and then I ask the dreaded question.

Me: "So! How long you been single?"
Him: "Well... well, like a few weeks but I'm on a break.. and uh.. she doesn't know if she wants to be with me"
Me: "...... are you serious, how old is she"
    Him: "20.. yeah....."
Me: "You do know that if I had known this beforehand I would NEVER have gone out with you"
Him: "This killed the mood a bit didn't it"
    Me:... *cringe* yeah.

I was pleasantly drunk so I didn't give him much attitude after.
He drops me off and hugs me. Okay, not a good sign.
He texts me 10 min later
"Thank you for going out with me, I had such a great time etc. you're awesome." I reply with.. "But?" Then he goes on to say "Believe me when I say this, I would have loved to get to know you, but until this thing with my gf is resolved I can't and won't pursue anyone else."
me: "I don't get it, why the hell did you take me out then"
Him: "I needed to be out with someone else, blah blah"

I don't really remember how the rest of the texting went but he went on about how he wasn't over her and how he was sorry and that I was so cool blah blah. Then he tells me "take care" at one point which got my fire going. If I am so awesome why didn't he wanna talk to me again?

    It was me, wasn't it?

Because you made it very clear that you would NEVER have gone out with him had you known his history. Why would he spend any further time and money on you after you've already make your disapproval clear?

Oh please do not think this is about you. Don't let a stranger dampen your self esteem. Maybe his gf was hanging with another guy so he wanted to get even. Or maybe he was thinking with his penis when he saw you at the club and asked u out, and when he got home he used his brain and realized he shouldn't be out with girls if he still wants his gf. I'm sure your attractive and nothing is wrong with you.

Just face it....you royally stuffed up and he's no longer interested.

Next time you want a second date, don't say "If I knew that I wouldn't have dated you". No guy is gonna give you a second chance after you come out with such a clanger.

You sound like you have an entitlement complex. "lacked a little bit in the complimenting department." Right.

Yes, it was you. If your posts are any indication, this guy picked up on your attitude. And then you flat out told him you wouldn't have gone out with him if you knew more about his history.

The guy sounds smart. He dodged a bullet.

If you wouldn't date this guy anyway, why are you so cut up that he won't call you?

I don't understand why you are so upset... this was a single date! I think you should be happy that he told you he was stuck on someone else. Would you have rather found this out after you were heavily-invested emotionally?
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

Ego? No, its an "Im 27 years old and I can barely get past a week with a guy thing" and I just wanted advice on this one thing. One begins to wonder that after THREE years single, maybe it's me?

If you're getting lots of dates but the guys disappear after just a week or so, then it probably IS something you're doing wrong. Have you asked your friends if they can see what the problem is?
