How to let someone down easy

Hi im Thomas and recently one of my sisters girlfriends sent me a facebook message; this is super awkward because you are [my sister] brother but i just have to get it out and say it - i like you.
But i don't really have any feeling like that for her What should i do to let her down easy?

I tried keeping this short and to the point

I have spoken with her twice, and that was about her hat. She is a good looking girl and sometimes wears a hat to school, she is pretty cool in that way but i dont have any romantic feelings for her.

Give her a chance. If person says she have feelings for you its not necessary to let her down straight away. Go on a date or two and if you dont like her then stop. Now you cant say direct that you dont feel anything cause she will get hurt. Better say"You have potential but I still have to get know you better, you cought me offguard by saying you like me." Something like that, say thanks but this came unexpected, maybe we can hang out some time in future.

Well we are 15 and 14, i dont believe there will be a date. But the "you caught me offguard part was actually pretty good... Thank you for that

OMG you guys don't give the poor girl hope or she will never leave him alone. The best thing to do is not to respond. That will tell her "not interested" and then if you want to take it further mention it to your sister that it's a no.

Well thats just cruel XD It's cruel to not answer! Which i did do, and said that i dont share the same feelings for her, but thats because i dont really know her..

I agree with Thomas. Its cruel not to reply. Thats passive and thats how girls do it. Far not the best way how to do it.

I only said that because the OP doesn't like confrontation. But never be wishy washy, be stright forward. Don't give them a gimmer of hope, that's down right cruel.

And yes I know that is how girls AND guys do it, don't kid yourself.
