Did I do something wrong?
Girl I've slept with once and was getting to know totally freaked out on me today and I'm wondering if I was really in the wrong so I can do better in the future.
She responded to my "Hi! How's your day going?" with "Sorry I replied (x) hours later. Was in the hospital." I said I was sorry to hear that (she told me a few days ago that she was starting to come down with something and because of that, I was thinking it must be that that illness got worse but didn't assume cuz it could easily be a family member too) and I expressed my condolences as stated above. Her reply: "NO you're not. But that's cool. What's up? Just hitting you back up since you texted me earlier." I thought her insinuating that I didn't really give a shit at all was really insulting so I said as much and then she proceeds in the next couple of texts to call me "an absolute idiot", "a tweek", and says I should get "happy pills" and stop playing a victim card, ending with "what you said is ****ed up and you should take responsibility for your actions."
Was my attempt to be decent and have some sympathy just a really tactless move? I mean, most normal people would see me as just trying to be sympathetic without pitying them, I'd imagine. On the other hand, I can't dismiss that maybe I was wrong?
