Even in Africa, more than 1/3 the population is obese, including 56% of South African women. Are they not poor enough for you? http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15954744/

That's exactly why you seem to be so robot to me. You don't have opinion, you just read read read and lack the sense to base your own opinion on that. That's the ability of observation you are lacking. You know there are thousands of articles about everything, for every opinion, why don't you go and read all that to me...

Sorry, but I don't see the woman on that msnbc link picture poor at all. Trust me, I have seen my share of poverty and you make me sick. South Africa is quite a rich country, and people speak english there due to colonisation in the past. Culture staid and now its quite westernized, lots of white people live there.

The issue with the article is, that children with low nutrition are more easily to become overweight than people who live nutritioned life all the time and move. That is, when the person from poor family gets into upper class. But in fact, I don't know where those statements come from...

In america, maybe mcdonalds is cheap, but down here its quite expensive actually. Ive seen documentaries about americas obese people, some of them living in trailer parks, were models when they were young, got raped and turned into fatties. They eat many chip packs a day, chicken broilers, fries etc etc. I don't call that poverty, no way. Its just depression and being miserable. And you know what? I am not that at all. In fact, I am quite happy.

Relevance?? A country can be rich while its people are poor, genius. South Africa actually has one of the highest unemployment rates in the world. More than 50% of the population lives below the poverty line. Haven't you seen the shantytowns? http://www.tcsc.k12.in.us/hs/Links/Web%20Design%20Q207/South%20Africa/problems_it_faces.html Are you trying to say that people who live in cardboard and corrugated tin houses aren't poor because they live in a rich country?

Additionally, if you read my last post carefully, I wasn't referring solely to South Africans, but to continental Africans.

Your ignorance of the facts makes it impossible to argue with you. Your *opinions* don't matter if you can't back it up with some objective data to support your rant. If you can't supply the data, then find someone else to annoy.

I want to see the fact that poor people are fat. When I see a fatty living in a shed, I will believe. Why must they bring an example of normal class fatty woman while they are referring to poor??? Usa not included for obvious reasons. You have given me some percentages that show population and obesity, but not wealth, which also seem to differ from article to article. Speaking of article wars.

Poorly developed country doesn't mean poor people. Culture could have a very well established inner agricultural trade.

fact is majority of people on here have never experienced poverty in the real sense, have you lot ever had your mother cry because you wouldn't eat food that was the only thing left in the house to eat and see her cry her heart out? no i don't think so, have you ever seen your mother cry because there was nothing to eat? and if you have you'd know it's not all about statistics, anyway some people on here have revealed to me that they have no idea about other countries, crappy articles don't reveal everything, and the point of this thread was to say what culture you would choose to be born into if you HAD to. It wasn't about who's more clever, who's richer etc etc, and what defines poverty. get over yourself and your so called 'facts'

Actually, I *did* see my mother cry when I was a girl because we didn't have food. One of many things you don't seem to realize is that hungry kids don't refuse food. Ever.

booba - again, post something useful or don't bother.

The country's awesome (except for the weather in spring and autumn), the people aren't much fun.

If the rest of the world erupts in wars over resource scarcity and economic collapse I'll pack my bags and head back to Sweden in a jiffy, its a good place to wait things out.

Since you seem so much into it, have you been in the position that you mentioned?

    Let's look at something else.

    What defines obesity?

Because if you're using BMI than even those statistics are horribly flawed.

yes unfortunately/fortunately i have. It taught me a lot about life. I was from a family that had money, then none, then plenty again. I know now how my mother felt when i refused food. I very clearly remember the occasions it happened, and you know why i refused? because i felt bad for my younger brother, i wanted him to eat instead of me. I was 7 at the time. Ireland was a very poor country not so long ago.

Are you retarded? I posted a link about worldwide obesity statistics pages ago. How is posting the same info I already posted supposed to strengthen YOUR argument that poor people can't be fat?

Eco - I actually grew up poor, and I couldn't possibly care less if you believe me or not.
