I've never heard somebody say that.

My mother is Italian (grandmother) and Swedish (grandfather).

My father is Chinese, however, his family was living in Vietnam, and came over here and brought most of his family when the US pulled out.

Oh and "Choi" wasn't their original name, it was Thai.

Don't know why they changed it.

yeah, a lot of people's last names change when they get over here ... for instance, my friend's last name is "Young" , but its supposed to be "Yung" or somethin ... minor change, but it makes an asian last name more white ...
