when it comes to smoking, however, i just use matches or my car igniter. lately i have been smoking more, but on the usual, i don't really smoke.

tooxshort---speaking of a**holes, I work with a bunch of them. See, I'm idealistic. Always think that if you do your best, the just rewards will come. So in a job, you put in the hours, the work, the investment, you pass up other opportunities 'cause you think you're onto a good thing. Than bam! You get that coveted promotion after 4years of slogging your ass off...but than they tell you the remuneration. And it isn't worth peanuts. And you're like wahhh? And higher management tells you, that they're tightening the purse-strings, trimming the fat, cost-cutting cause blah blah blah. F***. I don't give a rats ass what the P&L statement says. You want me to work till 11pm every night, than show me the MONEY.

Bottom line is, I learnt a big lesson today. Gone are the days of loyalty to a company. If they can get away with it, they'll screw you over. God I am so bitter right now.

tooxshort----Not everynight. Just closer to month end. Nightlife non-existent. Too knackered at the end of the workweek. Stress relief sound like a good idea. Got to find someone to destress with. Late 20s. 9.30pm is late. But just in time for the clubs which open at 10pm?!

Illusional----Cor, that's just the absolute truth. My manager left, hence they moved me up. Now my colleagues are turning bitchy out of jealousy. Promotions are great, but it comes at a price - backstabbing. It's a cruel world. And funnily enough, reading your comment makes me realise that despite us being in 2 totally different countries with 2 totally different cultural environments, the issues we face are essentially the same. Doesn't matter where you are.

t00xshort----Instead of hitting the bar, after work I just packed up my stuff and headed down to the pool. Swam up and down and am all tired now but feeling great. No amount of alcohol can create the same high as a good workout.

that's why i never really wanted a manager position.. the pay might be better, but at the same time, along comes all the headaches that they never tell you about. now everyone, even your best coworkers are complaining to you about the smallest things, and everyone expects you to change everything for the better. oh if only it were so easy.
