i think we all want long term relationship because we are all scared. scared of being lonely. its deadly and it leaves a lasting impression. we might be the most advanced species out of them all but our greatest flaw is our need for companionship. lasting companionship.

Yeah, because as we evolved romantic love has become a tool of nature to help propagate our species.

We rationalize why we do the things we do, but it all boils down to our instincts. Groups have a better chance at survival than those not in a group.

We say "it's not all about sex". Well sorry, but it really is. Even if we use contraceptives. We're hard wired to want to engage in the act, no matter what the means.

But in the animal world, the males try to mate with as many females as possible and don't stick around.

It depends on the type of species. There are many animals that stick as life long partners together. (Tigers for example.)
