Can I add option C to the voting?

Academicgirl is incredibly boring because she can only talk about one topic.

    "Mating" or sex?

In today's society, if you don't have sex, you're a pathetic unsocialable little virgin with no hope of a future...

    Depressing, nevertheless true, fact.

It is what it is, its not like that by them living that way, they reap 100% benefits. Their is a con to that lifestyle, so from the outside, it may look like they are enjoying it, but on the inside, its not fun and games. If they choose to value physical "perfection" and make it something important, it will have its benefits and drawbacks.

For example, by relying solely on looks to determine a person's worth, you miss out on being able to see spiritual and emotional worth. With these things lacking, things will end up in a miserable state.

There is no need to complain, there is a self-fixing mechanism for anything that has negative aspects to it.

I myself lived without putting value on physical worth. I have become immune to "beauty", being able to only see it in what I choose. Thus, I am not affected by girls who are hot. However, I also know that even people who aren't beautiful can still be as corrupt as the beautiful people are perceived to be. And I also know that there are "beautiful" people who are good and aren't shallow and just simply got lucky/unlucky to have inherited "good looks."

The source of your problem may be that you put importance on what they value.

Noveyor, your words made me wonder if the OP is as shallow about everyone else as she is about herself.

I'm wondering if Academic would date a guy who wasn't gorgeous....or would she judge him as unworthy

I think she would see her reflection in others. If person is ugly she will hate it cause she hates herself. I think she would be attracted to person opposite of her.

    eh?

    lol.. academic but so dim?

Look, society is as is. We are a very looks-based culture, but you cannot change it.

Either improve what you have, or accept that you're not deemed attractive per social norms.

If people born with disabilities/deformities can, so can you. Even then, such people can and do get married/in relationships, so not all hope is lost.

Besides, how do you look exactly? So you may not be a 10, big deal.

Physically attractive people have bigger social circles, are more successful at work and earn more money. They are also perceived to have better personality traits and intelligence than your average-looking person..studies have shown this.

Looks play a massive role in all areas of life, not just in terms of attracting the opposite sex.

I must be a bloody stunner then, because I have a wide circle of friends, just got a promotion at work, a £5k pay rise, and I'm reasonably smart.

I'm not a stunner though, so maybe those studies weren't all encompassing, eh?

And ps. being a virgin has nothing to do with what happens to you in the REAL world (career, people taking you seriously, etc) That all has to do with your attitude, and yours is pretty shitty, so no wonder no one takes you seriously.
It's not about success, but about finding a guy.

Every new generation acts like caring about attractiveness is a novel thing, but it's actually been prevalent for a few million years. Sexual selection means survival of the sexiest. What we find "sexy" covers other attributes such as intelligence, skills and sense of humour, but physical attractiveness is still a massive part of it.
Mating = having sex in order to procreate

What young adults today have sex in order to procreate?

No. People are better than me at everything.

    Really? Honestly?

Would you shag a girl based on her personality only? No?

    Exactly.

Looks and getting sex are everything.

Depends what you mean by "gorgeous guys".

I've always fancied guys who other people wouldn't normally classify as sex gods, but in my opinion they were divine.

What's a gorgeous guy in your opinion?

It's just... I don't know. It's never going to happen. Forget it.

    Exactly.

If you don't have the looks, you're ****** (metaphorically speaking).

    That's your life over.

Why is everything about finding a guy?? Stop looking and one will come to you! Focus on YOU, on school/work, and becoming successful. Maybe take this single time to work on your self esteem and your confidence. If you do all this, someone will notice you, and someone will come along. I know many ugly people in relationships, but they're looks are the only thing ugly about them. Your personality (based on how you present yourself on this forum) is just as ugly as you claim your looks to be. If you don't want the world to be so focused on looks, then maybe YOU should stop focusing on them.

    AG, do you even makeup?

Look at these pornstars with and without makeup, you can't look as bad as they do without that stuff

Looks are not everything. Yes having good looks is an advantage but personality counts for a lot too.

And whats with the obsession with sex? Arent you like 14? I didnt have sex till i was 18 coz i chose to wait and ive only been with 2. Why do you think the more you sleep with, the more attractive that makes you? The opposite is true IMO. If your looking to guys for validation you will never be happy. If a guy f**ks you it doesnt mean he cares or that he thinks your hot. Some guys woud f**k a cactus if there was nothing else around

sex prooves nothing as far as beauty goes so dont use that as a way to try and boost your self esteem. IMO the most confident people (men and women) are the ones who dont think they need a certain number of notches on their belt.
