Boyfriend Lacks Independence

So, let's start with your jealousy because this is part of what causes you to think he is not independent, not that he is. He has lived a life very different from yours and you are not 100% happy with the comparison. You cannot demand anything of him or anybody else for that matter and people can only change for themselves. If you do demand he finds some independent and he starts to change, you could become someone he resents if he is not happy with the changes.

He will one day have to become independent on some level or live with his parents until they pass away. We all move at a different pace and he has never had to become independent, whereas you have. You are opposites and if you want to keep him around you will have to be patient with him. If not, it might be time to move on and find someone more independent to be with.
