I worked at a grocery store last summer...I HAD to join a union or else I would have been fired within 30 days of being hired. It sucked, I was paying into something I had absolutely no use for.

Do you have to pay to be in a union or something?
My state has very loose, unregulated laws; we can own guns and other weaponry, learn to drive at the age of 14, employers cannot make you join a union, and minimum wage is $5.50.
Then again I freelance, and I basically write my own rules.
So do you have to pay or what?
Yeah, to join (reap any benefits) you have to pay the beast.
'Course you have to pay dues. I don't know how that works yet, or how much it is, but a Union is basically a mini-form of socialism. It's obvious why socialism would fail horribly on a large scale.
I'm all for the Union to be honest. But I would vote for any economically conservative official. There needs to be a balance.
I was forced to join something I had no use for and had to pay into it even though I got nothing out of it.
The union is retarded if they force you to join. Why the hell would a 17 year old bagging groceries in a grocery store only for the summer have to pay into something that isn't going to benefit them at all? They should at least have an option for those staying with the company temporarily where they don't have to join. They're just money stealing assholes. Plus the people that worked their were very rude and unhelpful.
I'm against unions.
