I was thinking maybe this weekend, but now I'm thinking on her birthday. I would totally cheat like that. Spend 500 dollars and then have to get her a birthday present? F*ck that shit, I just started working again.

I so picture a birthday proposal as a guy hidden in a massive present package yelling 'Me!!' when opened.

That arrangement works for you because you choose not to have children. If a couple decide to have children, the female have to carry on more burden than the male. Not only does she have to bear the pain of giving birth but she also is naturally attached to her children more than the father thus making her the primary and more suitable nurterer of their children.

As this means what? That she has to work harder? That's not necessarily true. I know men that are the ones that stay home to nurture their children. I also know men who DO share in the household chores and rearing the children, do the shopping etc. The expectations need to be agreed upon before getting married. Get prepared, get premarital counseling first.

Personal note*After our third date, I laid down my expectations right away and gave him the choice to stay or say nay. I don't BS around. And yes I'm well aware that child birth is painful, and raising kids sucks the every living life out of you....that's why I said no F-ing way.

it is true that a female has to work harder. i know only 1 men who stays home with kids, and everyone else i know are females. so we can't really use a single exception as an example, when comparing to majority of cases.

I never married, never had kids (my choice), and I have been with my guy happily for over 21 years....so not everyone regrets it. The Laws in Canada has covered the common-law status. If he dies I get everything and vise versa because in the eyes of the law we are considered married with or without a piece of paper. It goes the same if we split....he gets half my house and my investments. I have to say that, as a warning marriage is no fairytale, it's a lot of hard work....good luck.
