Some painful situations are part of everyday life, you would have to face them even if you are wise. The wise people would just make fewer mistakes than us commoners and learn faster
I think pain itself is a useful learning mechanism. Just like a child learns that falling down is bad through being physically hurt, we adults learn more about ourselves and our definition of compatibillity through emotional pain (Or trial and error). So I agree with Tone and his moobs on this one.
There's a quote I like to say:
"Your lifetime is not enough to learn through making mistakes, so learn from mistakes of others!"
