    Altama is the leading supplier.

Belleville is generally of higher quality and more features.

Corcoran has the "classic" combat boot among other styles.

Danner is like the Ferrari of boots. Very high quality at a very high price.

There are several brands that supply the military, but these I'm more familiar with.

Aegis, do you have the commercial version, or the military spec jungle boots?

I have noticed with my pair of black jungle ripple soles, that the laces they used with those were different, and also fell apart quite easily.

If you think the black jungles are comfortable, then try these babies, I have the desert tan version of these, the sole is made with a tri-layer sierra sole which means a lot more shock absorbant yet still flexible and breathable as your jungles.

Well worth the money, plus once the treads wear off these because of the tri-layer, they're easy to resole.

    Dude.

Not at all, ain't nothin' gonna protect you from a direct mine blast.

Many boots are spike protected though.

They are as water resistant as any other leather apparel.

Which means if you dunk your foot in some water, that water will eventually get to your feet.

    Remember resistant.

And that's only after you properly treat them with polish and/or mink oil which you will have to do fairly regular basis if you want the best out of them.

    Not proof.

If you want waterproof boots look for either gore-tex or some rubber rain boots.

frasbee, i shoveled a path for my car about 2 miles to town yesterday, because i had to go to work. i was in about a foot deep of snow, and my socks didnt get the least bit wet.

these boots are pretty nice, but they get so damn cold in the winter. that is the only con.
