Its a flush, guys. Due to vasodilation. Not sure the exact reason, but my guess is for increasing blood flow to the vaginal area. The heat helps melt the goo in your sperm, which makes them more mobile and better able to potentially fertilize an egg.

I suppose one could measure the temperature down there before/after orgasm with a digital thermometer. LOL.

I'd say it can vary depending on lots of variables, like where is stimulated, how long it is stimulated, how long it has been since i've had sex, how much effort my boyfriend cares to put into it, ect.
Some times the orgasms are only slightly eventful, but can vary a lot. The most intense usually result in a few involuntary convulsions and then a warm, dream like feeling falling over my body. Those only happen once in a while, but when they do... oh man.
