No more than two AP classes and then have some normal kid activities and volunteer positions in the summer. Otherwise you will turn out to be one of those freaks who are highly intelligent, but can't hold a conversation with another person.
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

Good, because there are way too many highly intelligent kids in the world who are social morons. I blame their parents.

You know, I approve of people working hard to attain their goals, but from what I've seen, the kids who jump through so many of these hoops and STILL don't get in to their first choice school bitterly resent having had absolutely no life when they were *supposed* to. I think there needs to be balance, and skaterboy lacks balance.
You are correct that there is no guarantee that anyone is going to get in their primary college of choice. Ya it sucks to see people work their asses off, just to be denied when they get to the door. As far as the balance it really depends on a ton of things. Like want the person wants in life and how they want to go about it. Some people don't want to stop and smell the flowers, while others get so buzy they never stop to smell the flowers.

You know whats interesting, is that I have an Aunt in Neveda that is a teacher and she says the kids from the higher class families don't share anything and are less socially active than the kids from the lower end familes as they share and a lot more socially activity. I was surprise by this, but then if you think about it, the higher up you go in the income brackets the more likely the person has more intelligence and spent more of their time learning than sociallizing and the kids pick it up as it is the enivroment they live in.
