I hope you see him again, and I hope you give him a great big smile. That's what he needs to get the courage to talk to you- just a sign that it's welcome. I mean, think about it. You sat next to him and just ignored him completely for the entire lecture. He probably felt invisible.

thnx for the advice (this sentence is for everyone). I didn't mean to ignore him, I just didn't think he would stare at me in an obvious way like that when i was right there next to him. I wonder why he would be lacking in confidence though... he's hot! One problem, he might think I have a bf since I don't have any girlfriends and I always hang out with my guyfriends (is this normal by the way?)

Ok, I'm newb here, but I do have some experience.
The guy is shy type since he hasn't talked to you during class (when you were together) and he stared at you cause he probably likes you. You are shy too since you haven't talked to him too. Maybe he is too shy to start conversation with you. I say, try to talk to him and ask him basic questions, later make it into interesting conversation. Try to make him relaxed, but don't be too much talkative (bla, bla all the time) and he will open to you. If it goes well, he will ask you out and exchange phone numbers. That's guy part. I don't think he only wants to bang you, cause he would immediately start talking. Through conversation you'll find out if he is talkative and if he really likes you. And take your chance while you still have it, cause if you change classes or whatever and you didn't have a chance to get to know him, you can be sorry. Better try now than asking yourself what could have been (I read this somewhere these days).

Of course he could be psycho, perverted guy and sex maniac. If this is the case, GET AWAY FROM HIM .

I have friend who is shy with girls, so I think this is the solution.
And post results after you've talked to him.
