The Simpsons: Getting better or worse?

I think this list of the 50 top episodes pretty much says it all -

No episodes from Seasons 14, 15, 16 or 17 made the cut....

The majority of episodes on the list are Seasons 6, 7 and 8 so that seems to be the peek.

Saying that a few shows in Season 18 brought it back into its own-

34) Homerazzi
35) The Haw-Hawed Couple

... and of course... the best of Season 18 - Coming in at Position 7) 24 Minutes

Just watched a clip and its pretty cool, much better than most of the shows they've been churning out lately anyway. So its proof that the Simpsons could be a lot better... The writers just have to lift their game up a notch to re-ignite the audiences interest.

I agree that they’re struggling for ideas now and often seem to fall into the character pigeon-holing trap.

Note : Obviously the list is going to change, probably rapidly ... so it may be different when you view it. But this is how things stood at the time of this editing.
