i hate the civic, but right now it is probably the most decent car for it's price.

Keep your old honda...fix whatever is wrong with the control arm. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to do it. I have a feeling it's control arm bushings that are bad. All you need to do is pull the control arm, take to a machine shop, have them press out the old ones, and press in the new ones. Install and you're good to go. And if it's a bent control arm, well you just got to get a new one. And I guarantee it will be about a quarter of that price. You don't need AC, I've been driving around for the past 3 years in a car without AC sometimes where it gets 100*F+ inside. You get used to it.
As for the transmission, don't shift over 1500 rpms.
Ok ok...maybe you just want something nicer lol.
But have you thought about getting a used car? You could get a car that's maybe 2 or 3 years old for MUCH cheaper then a new car. Keep in mind cars are terrible investments. From the moment you drive it off the lot the value of the car drops. And it only continues to drop.
I agree with getting a used Mazda 3...as much as I hate Mazda, it's really a pretty decent car for the price.
And I agree with Illusion about the civic, I hate most modern Japanese cars. But the civic is probably the most practical car out.
ironically this car is also has the highest theft reports because they are so easy to rip off. everyone has one and parts are always in demand.

No, I just don't intend on staying in New Orleans forever, nor do I intend on staying in whatever the next city will be, forever, or the one after that. And it's nice to have the space for people/tools.
I'm just getting tired of repairing this damn car.
680 two months ago, another 350 this month, assuming the driver side control arm doesn't need fixing, too, if it does, then that's another 350. That's comes out to about 1380.00, or 460 dollars for the past 3 months (including this one), on just repairs. That's about 3 car payments. And that's not even the end of the list!
The tail light needs to be replaced, but probably only after I get the panel replaced/repaired of damage.
The body is beginning to dissolve into rust around the tires.
It tries to stall when idled too long, which has gotten me into a few close fender benders and 1 unreported accident. And if I manage to pull it out of the stall, 1st and/or 2nd gear will lurch like a bull.
The rotor needs to be fixed/replaced so the wheel will stop shaking when I brake.
The rear passenger side window does not open.
I'm beginning to feel the springs in the driver seat which makes driving very uncomfortable for long rides.
Lack of an adequate defogger makes driving in torrential down pours (frequent in New Orleans), impossible to see out of the windshield.
If I'm going to keep shelling out 400+ dollars a month to keep the car running at less-than-ideal conditions, wouldn't it make more sense to be paying that 400 dollars on a car that is comfortable and reliable?
doesn't a moped cost about 2k?? you can always sell it when you're done and get a real car instead of a puny one.
