WoW is essentially an overglorified Skinner box. A Skinner box conditions rats to perform dull, repetitive tasks in exchange for small rewards. WoW does the same thing, only it's targeted at humans. Psychology at its best.

WoW is a game that can't really be beaten, and that's why people can't stop playing it.

I used to play it and I just got so tired of the grind that I started botting. I botted for nearly 7 months before I was finally caught and banned. I haven't played since.

ha! Still, I know it'd suck me in. I heard that it stimulates the same parts of the brain as gambling does.

I think what makes a good video game is a rich story, good graphics (yes I'm a graphics whore...if it looks pretty, I'm much more apt to play it), smooth gameplay, and a middle of the road learning curve (not too hard, not too easy). I'll also add that interactivity and community are good features. And I always love games with customizable elements to them. I prefer strategy/sim/rpgs to first person shooters.

The more I read about Spore, the more I can't wait to play it. From what I have read, Will Wright is going to constantly enhance and expand it in the future. I think I'm going to pre-order it. And when Blizzard comes out with the Lich King, I'll probably go back to World of Warcraft, even though I have kind of a love/hate relationship with WoW.

I don't have a Wii so I'm not sure how the games compare to the Xbox360. My favorite games are usually PC games.
Wow, I actually never believed you were a games fan.

Spore, i don't knoiw, it sparked my interest at first, because this was a new line in games, but I would be too lazy to play all that. Sims was boring too, even though its the most popular game.

I have always enjoyed Half life though, all new and old, i think its the best game there is. definately worlds best FPS!

Why its good? For me, the enviornment does it all. You don't go through boring cutscenes, you can move around almost all the time, look at things, interract, you are not forced to watch anything. And its also a very fast paced action.

Being an indie game developer myself, I try to implement as much as possible into the game also, without boring stuff. I mean, it all must fit together. My goal is to not tell the player anything, and still make it interesting enough that player wants to find out what the game is all about by interracting through enviornment. I think that good visuals also have to bear some kind of function in a gameplay rather than just eye candy.

In my opinion, if you put some cutscenes that show the story (that is there to just support the action and awesome new omgzroxxxor graphics) in a fast paced game, it is ruined. But cutscenes are ok in a slowly developing game, like adventure games, which I also enjoy very much (except loungest yourney gah... oddly enough).

Anyway, I grew up with Dendy, Double Dragon and Contra fan here.

If you need any help just ask. It's a tricky game. Just remember that if you can imagine it there's probably some way to make it work.

I can tell at a glance what each little symbol in that picture represents. Is that sad?

i like how it's not a standard resolution... i run games in windowed mode, and this one is practically a 2x1 ratio!

it will take a while before i know what each symbol means, LOL

It's true. It's like an mmorpg on E-Z-mode. Which is half the reason I like it. I don't have alot of time to play, so I can just pick it up and do some mindless grinding for an hour. Kind of pointless, yes, but it's just as pointless as watching a dumb tv show.

It's too dull to be addicting, but that's just me.

I could actually use some challenging games if anyone has any suggestions.

Yes, I suppose so. Something that will suck me in, but not in that mindless, quasi-addictive, grinding way. I prefer strategic games to first person shooters, unless I'm in the mood for a total adrenaline rush.
