    Lie, I do not.

I would just like to walk around with a lit cigarette just to annoy people, though.

Because I don't want lung cancer or the other wonderful side affects of second hand smoke?

I just don't understand the reason why people take up smoking to begin with. With all the studies and evidence that points to the terrible things it does to your body you think you would be turned off. I said it before, it's just as healthy as breathing carcinogenic solvents. I might as well carry around a humidifier with some MEK in it and put it right next to people that smoke. Doesn't smell or feel so good does it?

Hell I bet if someone were to do it in a restaurant they could get in some serious trouble. Yet someone that smokes and does just as great a job of killing you won't? I don't see the logic behind that.

You're ignorant and I think you need a smoke.

    Uh, DUH.

If someone eats in a restaurant that allows smoking than they accept the risk.

lol...like arguing with a high school girl.

First of all I said I had no problem with banning it in restaurants because I don't smoke and don't want to breathe it. Never said it should be. If a place has smoking, I won't go in it.

I simply stated how terrible it is for you and I don't understand why people even smoke still. Reread my post.

    Uh, DUH...lol

If you don't want to be around smoke in a restaurant, sit in the non-smoking section.

    Oh.

So you agree with me then?

    Then nevermind.

I was just under the impression that because of these statements:

I'm all for it. I personally find it absolutely disgusting. It's terrible for you and it smells terrible. I hate having to inhale other peoples smoke on campus all the time. I have no interest in getting cancer.

I also have no problem with banning it in restaurants and bars
From this I would gather that you support the government to make choices for business owners.

I'm so embarrassed that I misunderstood your sentiment.

I sense a hint of sarcasm in your statement.

I specifically said, I'm all for it if they do. I wouldn't mind it if they did. Never said they should. Two different things. You can assume I feel one way towards the subject but I never said they should.

Yeah and we also get the commercials (usually around dinner time) where a cancer ridden lung, clogged artery or a person with rotting teeth is shown. They are pretty gruesome. I also saw a billboard on the side of a bus the other day with cancer eating away a leg.

How many restaurants voluntarily banned smoking? None that I recall.

Why should I be prevented from eating out because a thick miasma of cancer-inducing filth hangs in the air of every public house in the civilized world? It's disgusting, it's harmful, and it should be illegal anywhere but in the privacy of your own home or vehicle.

if you showed me a picture of my decaying liver, i still wouldn't stop drinking. honestly, when people can't see what is hurting them, do you really think that they'll stop?? it's like america giving up mcdonalds.

They banned cigarette smoking in public places here in NYC and I'm not complaining. I'm also horribly allergic to cigarette smoke so breathing it in is extra toxic to me. If I am in a room with cigarette smoke, I literally have to go outside.

Some bar owners complained at first, but the New Yorkers don't really seem to care. They just go outside and puff away where everyone is already breathing in smog and bus exhaust.

Smoking is banned in most places in Estonia. Smoke at home or in quiet corners. No smoking in public places. Thank god! Smoking is for suckers.
    Don't expect anything.

Yeah, we've had it here in Canada for a few years, too.

I don't think it's deterred anybody. Most smokers know the risks already.
